postheadericon Fives courts re-opened at RGS High Wycombe

Last season, the two courts at RGS High Wycombe - built nearly 100 years ago as a memorial to the Old Boys of the school who died in the Great War - were unusable: roofless, unevenly floored, slippery and dangerous to play on. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the school and the support of the EFA, and Paul Bowden in particular, the courts were re-opened on September 16th by EFA Chairman Richard Barber, having been fully refurbished with a new floor, new roof and lighting. Following speeches by Headmaster Roy Page and Richard Barber, the large crowd were treated to an exhibition match featuring Howard Wiseman, John Reynolds, school coach David Mew and RGS pupil Robert Wilson. There then followed a coaching session from Howard for many of the enthusiastic young players from the school, which is hopefully the start of great things to come.
