EFA League Division 2: North Oxford edge ahead
There has been lots of action in Division 2 since the Christmas break with most of the main title contenders on court. The Stoics have suffered some recent setbacks after their blistering start to the season and a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Old Millhillians 2, made worse by the concession of another penalty point, means that they now have a lot of work to do if they are to reclaim top spot. Fellow challengers Highgate also tasted defeat at the hands of the Old Salopians, with Ed Taylor in particular in fine form, and the Salopians should now have their sights set on a possible top three finish. The team to beat at the moment, however, are North Oxford, who moved two points clear at the top with a convincing 3-0 win over the Old Citizens 1 at Aldenham and who have three matches left and their fate in their own hands. Elsewhere, the Old Ipswichians made a strong move up the table with a 3-0 win over the struggling Old Carthusians at Highgate and the Old Salopians scored another 2-1 victory, this time against the Old Westminsters 2 at Westminster, a match most notable for the fine win at second pair by Westminster School pair Leo Nelson-Jones and Sacha Mehta. A taste of things to come for the OWs maybe?
