Barber Cup: Harrovians into the quarters
The quarter-final line-up for the Barber Cup is now complete as the Old Harrovians beat the Old Westminsters 2-1 to clinch the final place in the last eight and earn themselves a crack at the Olavians in a couple of weeks time. After their recent 3-0 league win over the Millhillians the OHs were on a bit of a roll and even the late withdrawal of star player Tom Dunbar was not enough to stop them recording an impressive win over the OWs. Ross Bryan and Jamie Fleming recovered from the loss of the first game to win in four against Laurie Brock and Ed Rose at first pair and team captain Nick Shaw played at second pair alongside Ed Hewens against Giles Coren and Saul Albert, Ed confirming his status as one of the most improved players on the circuit as he starred in a 3-0 win. James Hammond and Jordan Schlipf lost at third pair against Will Illingworth and Peter Kennedy but this could turn out to be something of a watershed moment for the Old Harrovians, winning without either Dunbar brother and with some newly rediscovered OH talent coming to the fore to go with the two or three talented young players now coming through. The quarter-finals will be held over the weekend of the 3rd/4th December with the semi-finals at Eton on the afternoon of Sunday 11th. CLICK HERE to see the full draw and results.
