postheadericon Barber Cup: Salopians win the Midlands derby

Not for the first time in recent season, local rivals the Old Wulfrunians and Old Salopians found themselves drawn against each other in the Barber Cup. Last year's runners-up the Salopians fielded a strong team with Ed Taylor and T Walters providing the experience and the national schools' winning quartet of George Thomason, Tom Cox, Tom Gerrard and Rex Worth the youth. The Wulfrunians made Barber Cup history, becoming the first side to take advantage of the new rules and field two schoolboys - Toms Weston and Husselbee - but were unable to prevent the Shrewsbury team from winning 3-0 and moving into the second round where they will face the Old Ipswichians.
