postheadericon EFA League: Highgate and Old Stoics on the charge

Highgate and the Old Stoics have kept up the pressure on Division 2 leaders North Oxford this week, both recording their third win in three matches this season. Highgate combined their school players with Cholmeleian partners to good effect against the Ipswichians on Thursday night; especially pleasing was the return after a two year absence of former Kinnaird Cup semi-finalist Niifio Addy, who slotted straight into first pair alongside Charlie Noble to record a close three game win over the Fletcher brothers. Dexter Davis and Aroop Bhattacharya overcame a third game hiccup to beat Nick Bunyan and Peter Baxter in four and Sam Moulding and Alec Noar completed the 3-0 win at third pair against Oli Watts and Richard Wood.

The Old Stoics were in action at Westway on Tuesday against the Old Salopians. Any team featuring Dave Mew and Ryan Perrie is going to be hard to beat and so it proved for the Salopians as Dave and Mike Skjott won at first pair against Rob Hillman and Harry Turnbull while Ryan and Olly Malcombe were overcoming Peter Nichols and Simon Purkis at second pair. The Salopians gained a small measure of revenge at third pair as Jamie Pollock and Dan Howie beat Alex Rowles and Seb Moore in three games.
