Mark Yates reports:

We had a very enjoyable ladder event at Shrewsbury on Sunday 9th October with 34 players from Oakham, Rydal Penrhos, Wolverhampton and Wrekin. Everyone played as an individual, moving up a court with a win and down a court following a defeat. The top court saw some strong players competing throughout the afternoon, with Edward Aldous present for four out of the five rounds. The other seven courts witnessed Rydal players creeping up the rankings. The final standings saw the following results:

Top Girl Scorer                Eve Cowan (Wolverhampton)
Top Boy Scorer               Shashwath Ganapathi (Rydal Penrhos)
Top Scoring Team           Rydal Penrhos
Most Improved Player      James Hammond (Oakham)

Rydal Penrhos were not only weighed down by their winnings but also the buttress top that we man-handled into the back of their minibus!

We are all now looking forward to the inaugural Welsh Open...
