postheadericon Schools Mixed Championship: Shrewsbury on song

Mark Williams reports:

Fifteen pairs from 5 schools entered this competition including 2 pairs from Ipswich and Anna Snowden from Haberdashers Aske's who had won the competition last year. The usual mixed rule whereby the man can only score one point when he serves applied. The pools stage produced some competitive matches and all 8 quarter-final pairs were of a good standard. The top four pairs duly reached the semi-finals which matched the pairs that had won each pool against the pairs that had come second in the other. Both matches were very close, and in both the pair finishing second in the pools won the match:

Alice Brett & Jason Tse (Shrewsbury) beat Hannah Blofield & Guy Williams (Shrewsbury) 12-7, 14-11
Anna Snowden & James Lawson Baker (Haberdashers Aske's/Harrow) beat Lucy Rands & Ben Jones 12-10, 12-8

In the final, Shewsbury quickly established a lead and never let go to win both games:

Alice Brett & Jason Tse (Shrewsbury) beat Anna Snowden & James Lawson Baker (Haberdashers Aske's/Harrow) 12-2, 12-7
