postheadericon EFA League: Olavians 1 close in on top spot

Olavians 1 moved a step closer to retaining their Division 1 title with a convincing 3-0 over the Old Cholmeleians at Highgate on Tuesday night. The struggling Cholms were again forced to concede third pair after a late withdrawal but were able to field Alick Varma at first pair, alongside Vishal Bhimjiyani. George Campbell and Dave Mew proved too strong for them, however, winning in straight games. The Cholms were also able to welcome back Sanjive Sachdev to the game after a ten year break, a good sign for the future given their shortage of players this season, and he teamed up with Cholms skipper Guy Chapman at second pair. Despite their best efforts, a sterling performance from Olavians schoolboys Tony Barker and Harry Ravi was enough to win the three points for the Olavians, and move them to within one point of Olavians 2 at the top of the table with a game in hand.
